Philosophy
 Our philosophy is simple and straight-forward: By
using guidance from our students and their families regarding the
subject(s) that pose the greatest challenges for our students,
Commonwealth Education tutors can tailor their methods to the needs of their
student. This methodology places a lot
of responsibility on our tutors, but we believe that an engaged
tutor who is vested in his or her way of teaching is more excited and
involved than one who is forced to use a cookie-cutter teaching
method. By giving our tutors more responsibility and flexibility, we
allow them to be more effective teachers and to better meet the needs
of their students.
The
one caveat we have is for SAT prep and SOL specific instruction.
Preparing for these exams requires a more structured program, and while
we still rely on our tutors for their abilities to best reach the
student, these sessions tend to be more rigid.
